2020 State Junior, U23 & Masters update!

Dear Athletes, Officials and Supporters,

The WWA council take the health and wellbeing of our athletes, officials and supporters very seriously, and have been monitoring the Coronavirus updates through the Australian Government Department of Health website, to assess the suitability of running the scheduled WWA competition of Sunday 15th March 2020.  Please be advised that the scheduled competition will be amended as follows:

Development Session = Cancelled

Session 1 - U15 Grand Prix = Cancelled

Session 2 - State Female Junior/U23/Masters = Will run as scheduled (Minus the Open competition athletes)

Session 3 - State Male Junior/U23/Masters = Will run as scheduled (Minus the Open competition athletes)

Session 4 - State Female Junior/U23/Masters = Will run as scheduled (Minus the Open competition athletes)

Session 5 - State Male Junior/U23/Masters = Will run as per session 3 schedule i.e. weigh in moved to 10-11, presentation at 12pm  (Minus the Open competition athletes)

All athletes not able to lift under the adjusted conditions, are eligible for a refund or can elect to rollover to the next WWA competition.

In addition to the changes listed above, please also be advised that the competition will be closed to spectators, other than athletes competing, officials and guardians (for athletes under 18 years of age).  If the government's advice changes, we will be prepared to change our plans accordingly.  

The WWA Council also kindly asks the following:

  • Anyone who has recently travelled overseas (regardless of country/ies visited) who have developed flu like and / or respiratory symptoms since returning is asked to not attend the WWA competition this weekend and instead seek medical review via their GP clinic.
  • Anyone who has returned from an overseas trip within the last 14 days (regardless of country/ies visited), please contact the WWA Secretary via email secretary@wwa.org.au or via text 0432445366 to assess if it is suitable for you to attend the competition or not.
  • If you have been in contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVD-19, or someone who is at high risk of a positive test, then we ask that you do not attend this weekends WWA competition.
  • If you are feeling unwell, or have a cold or flu like symptoms, then we ask that you notify the WWA office, and not attend the WWA competition this weekend.
